Valentine's Day Wish List

I go through many different phases depending on the time of the year and my mood. Recently I've started sewing again, and although a beginner, I've started sewing my own clothes in hopes that I can get good enough to make some quality, classic, and long lasting pieces. Getting back into sewing has made me realize how much I love and appreciate floral fabric and vintage clothing. Since Valentine's Day is right around the corner I thought I'd do a post on my current wish list and as you can see it is vintage inspired. I hope you enjoy!

Ballet Inspired Holiday Outfits

My style is always changing. Most days when I'm at home with my son I love the simplicity of wearing a plain t-shirt and some shorts. However, when I do go out I like to 'dress up' a little more. I've always had a challenge trying to pinpoint 'my style' and now I just appreciate the fact that I lean towards certain style aesthetics. I love Parisian, bohemian,  and rocker style so I have realized that I love the mix of ultra feminine details with an edge. Lately I've been inspired by ballerinas and I've decided that this year I would like to dress up in a ballet-inspired outfit with a beautiful jewel tone tulle skirt- either wine/maroon, emerald/forest green, or in plum/mauve. Below are some outfits that I really love and might try to emulate:

1- Sequins and Tulle
2- Maroon Tulle Satin Skirt
3- Bradshaw Tulle Midi Skirt- Burgundy
4- Maroon Tulle Skirt
5- Dark Purple Tulle Skirt
6- 2013 Fashion Week Street Style Not tulle, however, I love the color and drama this skirt adds
7- ASOS Full Midi Tulle Skirt
8- Vienna Green Tulle Midi Skirt
9- ASOS Tulle Prom Skirt

*Note: These are just fashion inspirations and I might do an updated post with actual links to tulle skirts I would like to purchase!

Well I'm going to finish my coffee and start cleaning- Au revoir!

Manoa Falls Trail

We've been living on the beautiful island of Oahu for about a year now and one thing I told my husband I want to do more of is explore the island. Matt was born and raised here so it helps having his insight on where the good spots are to go. One common hike here is the Manoa Falls Trail. It's roughly a mile and a half long and leads up to a beautiful waterfall.

We went this past weekend and had a fun time! Although it was a short hike it was a bit of a challenge for me because I haven't gone hiking in awhile and I was carrying baby in front. Overall it was an adventure and I'm excited to share more that we go on:)

Letting Go

The lotus flower symbolizes many things, one of them being rebirth. I've always found the lotus flower to be beautiful especially with its stark contrast against the muddiness of the water. These past few weeks I've been doing some deep re-evaluation of my life- of who I am, what I want to do, where I want to go, and how I want to promote a positive change on others' lives as well as the earth. It seems like this is the perfect time to let go of those things that no longer align with these values. This includes- clutter, physical and mental. I'm slowly decluttering my possessions, negative thoughts and connection through social media. Just today I deleted my Facebook account after nearly 8+ years of use. The most important thing that I really want is to be more present in my life- with my loved ones and treating each and every moment as a special experience. I've realized when it comes down to it our lives are full of so many opportunities and what matters is how we choose to use our time. With that said, I choose to use my time: with family and friends, going on adventures and being in nature, being more creative, making healthier choices and giving back. Thanks for reading.
